About Us

Owner and founder Tommy Detrich has deep roots in the collision industry. Spending most of his youth hanging around the family auto body shop, he began too fall in love with anything with wheels. At the age of 15 he was already designing and building custom cars in his back yard with his friends. It wasn’t before long that he developed his drive to master the art of automotive refinishing. While working at his father’s body shop, he dedicated himself to his craft. Soon, Tommy became known as one of the area’s elite painters. In the mid 2000’s, he burst into the show car scene and began to receive national recognition from industry giants like: DUB, BASF, KICKER POLK AUDIO. His unique design style and extreme attention to details set him apart from the pack.

In the dawn of 2010, Signature Finishes was born in a small garage behind Tommy’s home. It stared out as an underground side business building and painting custom cars for some of the area’s top custom shops, local celebrities and athletes. Suddenly, it exploded over night. The tiny 3 car garage behind his home in Pasadena, MD started to overflow with the sickest cars on the east coast. The business rapidly grew, forcing Tommy to leave the comfort of his family’s business and take a shot on his own.

Signature Finishes isn’t your typical run-of-the-mill auto body shop. To Tommy, this meant that anyone that might work there, “couldn’t be simply average”. He carefully hand-picked some of the area’s best young talent to start this journey with him: guys that are raw and passionate… CAR GUYS doing what they love… Each of our techs have been around the business from a young age. They bring lost treasures, like pride and craftsmanship, back to the automotive repair industry. When they’re not working on cars, you can catch them at an auto show or local car meet. I guess that’s what makes us different…. To us, it’s not just our job, it’s our lifestyle…
